Stories and Highlights
There's always something to celebrate at our school! We celebrate many aspects of our school life, including culture, community, learning and sometimes just for fun!
Some of the Annual Events at WPS
Harmony Day
Harmony Day is a day of cultural respect for everyone who calls Australia home – from the traditional owners of this land to those who have come from countries around the world. By participating in Harmony Day activities, we can learn and understand how all Australians from diverse backgrounds equally belong to this nation and enrich it.
NAIDOC Week
National NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia in the first week of July each year, to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. NAIDOC Week is an opportunity for all Australians to learn about First Nations cultures and histories and participate in celebrations of the oldest, continuous living cultures on earth. You can support and get to know your local Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander communities through activities and events held across the country.
Book Week
Book Week is a cherished tradition across Australian early learning centres and schools. Established in 1945 by the Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA), Book Week aims to promote a love for reading and recognise the invaluable contribution of Australian authors and illustrators.
"My children feel safe, secure and inspired as learners every day. They love their school and feel a strong sense of belonging.” - a parent of Wauchope Public School.
